Located at the rivermouth along Highway 101, between 29th Street and Via De La Valle, it offers off-leash fun between the day after Labor Day and June 15. During the rest of the year, dogs can enjoy off-leash freedom from dawn until 8 a.m. This beach is especially popular for its vibrant dog community and stunning natural beauty.

La Jolla Shores Beach

Location: San Diego, CA 92037

While La Jolla Shores Beach requires dogs to be on a leash, it welcomes them during less busy hours to ensure everyone's enjoyment. Pets are allowed before 9 a.m. and after 4 p.m. from November 1 to March 31, and before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m. from April 1 through October 31. The spacious beach is perfect for long walks and offers breathtaking views of La Jolla's rugged coastline.

Imperial Beach

Outside these dates, dogs can still enjoy the beach off-leash before 8 a.m. The changing leash rules reflect the beach’s commitment to accommodating both pet owners and other visitors, ensuring a harmonious environment.

North Beach in Del Mar (Dog Beach)

Affectionately known as "Dog Beach," North Beach in Del Mar is the area’s only off-leash dog beach. Cardiff State Beach
